I have designed a mini holiday request application for Outlook 2000, once a holiday request is approved, it automatically raises a "holiday request approved" form which has the e-mail address of the HR contact and the Holiday Request folder in it so it gets sent to the folder rather than posted to it. Anyway, that's just background, basically when someone clicks the approve or deny holiday request buttons, it cannot raise the forms as they are not installed on the local machine, even though I have puiblished the forms to a public folder - does anyone have any experience in this area. I want the application to work without having to physically distribute the forms to everyone who might need them, and I don't want to have them published in a public folder without them being hidden??

Confused?? if not any help would be greatly appreciated.

You mentioned that you designed this yourself, so it seems you are troubleshooting a custom application? You may find some useful approaches, tips, and genaral pointers at if you haven't gone there already.

Thanks, I have been to slipstick's website and although it is very informative i couldn't find aything to address my particular problem - oh well, we keep plodding on.

Yep, although it does relate to my issue, I understand and can complete all the things that this page covers, it doesn't cover my particular problem though or how to get around it.

Please clarify, is the problem you're trying to solve:

1. Your forms do not function correctly, that is, "when someone clicks the approve or deny holiday request buttons, it cannot raise the forms"

2. You don't want the forms available in a public folder "I don't want to have them published in a public folder without them being hidden??"

3. Something else?

You might also check for ideas for sample forms, code, a white paper and a presentation on the evolution of a vacation request form with voting buttons to a from that creates an appointment for an approved vacation in a public Vacations folder and then sends a matching appointment back to a users calendar.

The forms do function correctly. When the "APPROVE" button is clicked it is supposed to raise a different form (Holiday Request Approved form) which is then sent back to the recipient and the Holiday Request folder. My problem is that once I release the custom application, when someone presses on the button to raise the approved holiday form then the error appears. However, when I do exactly the same thing in my test environment, the form does appear. This behaviour does not seem to change regardless of where I publish the forms to.

Sadly not...although it is a similar process, it does not go into enough detail to show me where I may have gone wrong.
