I have a remote user using OE as their mail client. They have powerpoint viewer installed to view powerpoint files. They downloaded some windows updates recently and since then, outlook express doesn't open any .ppt or .pps files - it says that an association needs to be created. However, if they detach them, it works fine.

I've tried clearing the cache but it keeps crashing, also I've sent him an excel file and that opened fine. I don't think the ISP is chaning the file (eg to .att) as when he detaches it, it saves with the correct file type.

Please, can anybody help

y2k1981,

Try re-doing the associations....as the computer needs to know what to do when a user tries to open a certain file type (e.g. ppt or pps)

awesome - powerpoint backgrounds

thanks for your reply, I done all that. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the viewer, and still the same problem. Works fine when detached but not when in an e-mail. I've been told that it's a problem with outlook express, that it needs to be reinstalled
