Can anyone offer any suggestions on this? I'm running Windows 98 and Outlook Express 6, though I know the same problem can affect OE5.

The last few days, when opening Outlook Express when it goes to download my e-mail, I keep getting repeatedly prompted for my password on all three of my identities, and each time I re-enter it, it just keeps returning the box asking for it again, like it's just forgotten what I put it.

I've had this problem once before a year-or-so-ago, where it went on for best half of a fornight. I finally managed to cure it by tinkering around, but it eventually cured without me really sure of what I had done to put it right.

There's no logical reason why it should suddenly start doing it; I have'nt adjusted any of my password settings at all, or re-installed anything that would/should affect it.

I've heard several other people I know get hit by this bug also, and no-one seems quite sure just how to solve it.

The immeditate suggestion is to rename the *.PWL files, which was the first thing that I did, but to no avail.

Any clues, anyone, pleeease? It's really starting to be a pain, I have a whole que of e-mails I can't get.

Thank you kindly,
-j-
