Outlook Express not responding

I having problems with OE 5.5

Typically, I'll compose an email, please the send icon, spell check operates and then the program hangs in mid-air - nothing happens. I press ctrl+alt+del and get the dialog box 'OE not responding'. I click "End task". Nothing happens. I do this again. Eventually a further dialog box appears and I click "End task" again and the program closes. Usually the email I have composed is still in the Outbox.

I always compose emails off line, then go on line when I'm ready to send them.

Just thought - I have not tried turning off spell check but, apart from that, is there anything else I could try to rectify this problem apart from trying to re-install?

How about going to Windows Update and download the OE 6?

Also, just because you go on line does not mean your Email server is up and running. If this only happen occasionally, I would think that could be part of the problem.

However, I would update to OE 6 and see what happens after that.

Are you saying, that working offline until you need to send works? Or is that the behavior that is not working?
