After an unfortunate incident involving a blown power supply that fried the hard drive, CDWriter, and motherboard of a pc, I have installed Windows 2000 Pro and Outlook Express 6 onto a new PC. I have .wab files backed up on a CD, and all my .dbx files are backed up as well.

However, when I try to import messages in Outlook Express, I am told the directory does not contain any message or they are in use by another application. I have tried pointing the "Store Messages" directory under "Maintenance" to the directory where the .dbx files are(after copying them to the Hard Drive). I then tell it to use the existing files in that directory, but then OE will not start back up without giving error messages.

I have used DBXtractor to extract all the messages from the DBX files, and they are now stored in directories on the Hard Drive. I can not figure out how to import the individual messages into OE 6, however. Plus, when I try to import an address book, even though I have 3 different backups, and they have been sucessfully imported before, I get a message saying that they are not valid address book files.

So...what can I do here to get all the old .dbx files imported into OE? If not the .dbx files, how about the individual messages that I have extracted? Also, any clues on how to import the address book? Thanks!
