Greetings all. I'm a field techie and I ran into a little problem. A client of mine is using an XP upgrade from ME...since the upgrade, their Outlook Express account has been all messed up. The error that I get is as follows:

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop3.norton.antivirus', Server: 'pop3.iowatelecom.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Login failed.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Now, I've verified the password with both the client and his ISP provider. Also checked the Pop3 and SMTP settings to ensure that everything was in order there. It was. If any of you have any additional help...it would be greatly appreciated.

P.S....I also browsed the Microsoft Knowledge Base. Along with innane babble that those articles usually have, were hours upon hours of wasted time.

Are you sure you double checked the account name?

Account: 'pop3.norton.antivirus'

Some versions of Norton & PC-Cilin tend to do this. Look for a setting within Norton for incoming e-mail scanning and disable it. Also make sure your client is using an XP compatible version of Norton.

Thanks for the help. I don't have immediate access to the computer today...However, I will test out this theory on the PC ASAP. Again, thank you for the help.

P.S. The PC was upgraded, so the Norton incompatability could be the issue. I'll get back when I have a definate answer.
