Don't know if this is possible, but have to ask anyway.

when sending mail in outlook i have it set to spellcheck when i send, i accidentally "added" a mispelled word, and i'm wondering if there's any way i can "un-add" it or do something so that outlook doesn't think it's a word.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you.

Do a spell check on a new e-mail (with at least one error)

When the spelling windows opens click options then edit

You should see your misspelled word and change or delete it

much luck

i don't have an edit in my options. it just lists a bunch of check boxes of things like "ignore words in uppercase" or "Always check spelling before sending" etc...

any other ideas?

I'm running Outlook 2000 SR-1 and yes I do have a "Edit Custom Dictionary" in my options.

What outlook version are you on?

If you're on 2000 then there must be an option that needs checking and I don't know where Bill hid it but I'll look.

i'm on windows 95, office 97, outlook 97

While in you "in box", not in a new mail, have you clicked Tools Options Spelling Edit

there is no edit in there... it's the same list as when i choose options in an email when it selects a mis-spelled word. just the check boxes list.

Ok I'll look around or maybe someone else may thread in

I think I found it.

Search the drive that outlook is on for a file named custom.dic or custom.txt and open it with notepad or wordpad to make changes.

AWESOME!!! you are a life saver!!! that worked perfectly. THANK YOU!!
