We have rather a strange problem.

We have one user that is having trouble with outlook, in that it keeps crashing on them every few minutes.

We have a citrix environment but outlook seems to be fine for everyone else. We haven't made any changes to the exchange server.

The user said this problem started when they tried to read a recall request for a message that was sent.

We thought at first it may be to do with the size of her inbox, (which had over 25000 items in) so we had them move items to another folder, the inbox is now down to 700 items.

We are rather stumped, and as you can imagine this is very frustrating for the user.

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers Helen

Was the folder she moved the mail to a subfolder of her inbox or a folder in a pst ?

Anything in her event logs ?

Hi,

Theres nothing in the event logs.

The mail has been moved to a subfolder.

It has been suggested that we export the mail to pst.

The user probably has some corrupted messages in her mailbox. The easiest way to fix this would be to move the user's mailbox to another server, then move it back. The harder way would be to run eseutil and isinteg to remove inconsistencies and errors from the database. Depending on your HW and DB size this could take several hours to run and your server will be down for the duration.

Since this sounds like this is more an outlook problem, you might want to consider deleting the users profile from outlook and re-create her profile. make sure you re-map her PST if she has any.

If the user is using cached mode, you might also try removing the cache files, and then restarting Outlook to rebuild them.

Good luck!

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your input, we exported some stuff from the inbox to a pst folder, and that seems to have stopped outlook crashing.
