Hi, we have a 5 server farm. We have Exchange 2k and running Outlook client through ICA on published desktop. We have had increasing complaints of sessions freezing. I did a lot of perf monitoring and found that there are absolutely no problems with hardware during a freeze. CPU is under 10%, available memory is 100%, page swaps are spiking, but seem to be at normal levels given 100% avail memory.

I removed the process CTFMON.exe and that seemed to help as there are less complaints. However, I found recently that while someone is frozen, if I end the Outlook.exe process everything goes back to normal.

Any ideas of what is going on here?

Hi GeneK94583

What version of Office are you using?

We had a problem where office would freeze and eventually come back to life. It was Outlook 2000 SP3 with Office 2003(eg word and excel). The cure was to upgrade Outlook 2000 to 2002,& or to load balance Outlook so that it did not run on the on the same servers as Word 2003...

This did fix the prolem for us, dont know if this is any help or not?

Thanks for the info Pauljex. Unfortunately I can't use that. We have Office 2002 w/SP2, which is the same as Office XP I believe. I upgraded our test box to Office 2003 and put a bunch of testers on there, and it still does the same thing, however not as often.

I think in all the cases of frozen sessions, none of them had Word open at the time.
