Just installed Exchanged 2003 on a member server, (Windows Server 2003). Working fine for email. Now users want to share their outlook calendar. They have 1 main calendar that's already in use, on one user's machine. I can see how to "share" the calendar via outlook and then set permissions, but can I move the calendar itself to the Exchange Server so that nobody is dependent on this person having their computer turned on (it's a laptop and will be taken from the office). Everybody needs to be able to see it and edit and add appts. to it. Is that what public folders are for? Or since CEM is being used on all desktops/laptops, will it synchronize the calendar to the Exchange Server somewhere? And if so, where?

Hi,

Maybe it is an idea to create u public calender on the exchange server. Set rights to that calender and then copy the laptops calender oppointments to that calender.

This way you can set the permissions and it is always online for all the users

Hope this helps

Patrick

I guess my question comes down to: can I copy the whole calendar that's on the laptop, with all 400 appointments and meetings on it, to some portion of the Exchange Server folder and then set permissions to use it from there? And which folder on Exchange do I copy it to so that it gets backed up properly and everyone can access it 24-7? All folders on this server are in their default mode. I've not renamed anything.

I never did it myself but read a post from someone else and it sounds easy. The other person did it and it worked like a charme he said. Here is that post

so basically first click on Kalendar
go to file --> import and export --> export to a file --> choose excel or access or tab separated values and press next
give a file name and export

Then open outlook
go to file --> import and export--> import from another program or file --> choose the file ( you exported above)
and select the target folder as "Calendar"
