Hello,
I need some help with outlook calendar. I have a user who uses outlook 2000. The user has 2 mail accounts, one an exchange mail account, and the other an Internet mail account (POP3). The Internet mail account is the default mail account. Mail is delivered from both accounts into his personal folder file. This user syncs his palm V with the calendar folder under the exchange mailbox in outlook. When other users in the company set up a meeting appointment using their exchange calendar, and invite this user, the email that goes out as the meeting invitation, finally lands in the personal folder's "Inbox" folder (and not the Inbox folder of the exchange mailbox folder). When the user accepts this meeting invitation, the calendar that gets updated with this new appointment is the calendar folder under his personal folders, and not the calendar folder under exchange mailbox folder. This creates problems in 2 ways:
1. When the user syncs his palm with outlook the next time, this new appointment does not reach his palm, as it is not present in the calendar folder of his exchange mailbox folder.
2. When someone else tries to set up a meeting for the same time as the earlier appointment, and tries to invite this user, they see the time as free time for that user (not correct, since an appointment was already accepted for that time slot) because the appointment was not created in the calendar folder of the exchange account folder, but in the calendar folder of the personal folder.
I want to know how to streamline this process when you have a situation like this (user using outlook, having exchange mail, and mail being delivered to personal folders). How do we force outlook to make calendar entries in the exchange calendar (and not the personal folder's calendar) when ever a new meeting request comes in the user's mailbox and is accepted by the user? We do not have an option of changing the default delivery location to his exchange mailbox.
Thanks for any help!
Vivek
