I have a salesman that wants to include a picture in his auto signiture, but instead of the picture, it puts a white box with a red X. Has anyone else tried to do this? Any thoughts would be great. Thanks.

If he wants to include a standard picture (ie clipart etc), you do it off the advanced edit tab. Try the following link :
There is a way to stick in your own picture. I think you have to create it as an OLE object, but I can't remember how to off the top of my head. I'll try and remember - will post if I come up with anything.

Does it disply the picture correctly on new mails he creates and disply the red x only when he replies/forwards?

it puts the red X on all outbound mail. I used the advanced edit to put it in as a JPG image.

I can't believe I mispelled 'display' wrong twice in the same sentence.

When you selected 'advanced edit' and word opened, how did you insert the picture and where did you save the word document to?

I used the insert picture from file feature, and saved it in the microsoft\signitures folder. I have also tried it on different machines running Windows XP with Office XP.

One more interesting point....When previewing the signiture, it displays fine.

ah ha! I think I figured it out. If you do not have word set as your default editor of email, it does not put the image in. I changed my editor, and it appears to be working now. Thanks for your input

Not much to contribute other than a suggestion that the salesman in question problem isn't going to make a lot of friends by bloating his emails with graphics files...[lol]
Here's one fix I've tried with success in the past:

"Choose Tools | Options | Mail Format.
Make sure the default format is set to HTML.
Click Signature Picker.
On the Signature Picker dialog, select the signature, then click Edit.
On the Edit Signature dialog, click Advanced Edit. This will open the .htm file for the signature in your system's default HTML editor.
Use your HTML editor's tools to insert a graphic.
Save the file and click OK until you return to Outlook.
If you don't have an HTML editor, you can locate the .htm file for the signature in your Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures folder, then edit it in Notepad to add an HTML image tag like this:

<img border=&quot;0&quot; src=&quot;file:///Driveletter:/picture.gif&quot;>

You can also use either of these techniques to add other HTML tags to your signature -- to play sounds, run marquees and generally make a signature so busy and junky that people stop reading your mail.&quot;
