I may be being stupid, but could someone help. I have Outlook 2000 connected to a Exchange 2000 server. Whenever I receive a .exe file it tells me it's blocked and won't allow me to do anything with it. Is this a Outlook or Exchange setting, if so how do I change it. Thanks.

You may have installed the Outlook security update which blocks attachments of certain extensions.

If you check your public folder, you may have a key that will let you amend these settings.

However, if your mail goes to a PST file, you are not going to be able to disable it. You may have to uninstall and reinstall Outlook (but I wont guarantee that will resolve it)

There is a lot of info on the Microsoft site about this update, from here you will get access to all of them
