As a general PIM/email client, does anyone know of a decent replacement for Outlook? I'm not looking for full groupware apps, like GroupWise and Lotus Notes, just for personal use.

Netscape Composer is decent and free as well. It has a couple of neat functions that Outlook doesn't have, like setting the amount of time before an email downlowd times out - great when youre having network/isp problems or have large downloads. However Im not a complete fan of the Netscape line - I found it to be crash happy when I was using all popular browsers during web design.

neither of those have a calendar function though, which is really needed, unfortunately :(

There is a beta version out there has much of the functionality of outlook (calendar/email) it is free but the project looks dead so I doubt there will ever be a released product. To try out the product, go here:

There are also a ton of products that keep your data on their servers. Including some of the upgrades to free email services.

Here's another product that isn't free, but it is close to it ($2.95/mo.)

Beside that I can't help

hmm.. javascript and php - even if it IS dead i could continue it, i guess!

thanks, i'll try it out later tonight.. heres hoping!
