I have a station at work which is utilizing outlook 98 as an email client, connected to an exchange 2000 server. He can send and receive email attachments fine, however after some period of time (which seems to be random) many of his email attachments are no longer retrievable. What I mean be not retrievable is, for example, a pdf document is sent to him when it first arrives it shows a pdf icon in the mail message, however the following week it will no longer be a pdf icon and instead become <somefile.pdf> at this point if he clicks on the file it will open into internet explorer with a LONG location pointed at his local computer and it will then give an error message saying the file does not exist.

I have tried to have him leave the messages on the exchange server mail box and on the local hard drive in a personal folder; however both places seem to have the same problem. Also I have tried to send an attachment to my account as well as his and mine continues to be available while his will no longer be available.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

It isn't an autoarchive issue by any chance? The solution is out there. [morning]

No I have checked that before, and made sure that the autoarchive is completely off.
