All,

I am having difficulty working out the source of the problem here:

I have a windows 2000 Workstation, running office 97, when I am in outlook 97, I can send and receive emails without a problem, but once I attach a file, it locks up (stops responding with the windows dialogue box "end now")

I have checked out the registry, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > Office and the correct permissions are in place, full access.

Also to my Winnt folder and Program files directory.

Should I just re-install outlook? and not bother about trying to patch the problem?

Any info / ideas would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Luke

Is this all attachments? Where are the attachments stored? If you create a notepad file on your desktop, can you attach that?

mostly larger ones (like 400kb and over), I could attach the autoexe.bat file and email it to myself without a problem.

ah ha! got it

registry issue, give the user permission to the shared tools folder

Hkey_local_users > software > microsoft > shared tools
hkey local machine > software > microsoft > shared tools

while your at it, you might as well select the office > 8.0 folder too... if your using office 97!

Thanks all for reading and giving me input.

Luke
