All,

I am running a Windows 2k professional pc with office 97 installed, the administrator can open all the applications as part of the office suite, including outlook.

When I add another user, with general user, administrator or power user it will not open outlook, with the error message of:

"This program is not registered properly, please run setup again. Can't find this file, make sure the path and filename are correct"

i have checked the Hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\office & hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\office for permissions and all added accounts have full permission but nothing seems to work.

I have also added full permission to the program files directory and winnt, same problem tho.

microsoft had a document pertaining to the same registry keys, also didnt work..

anyone had this problem and resolved it? i have also tried re-installing office and using the office 97 registry eraser + deleting the folder.

any help would be of great assistance,

Luke

FIXED! figured it out with much looking on the system

Delete the user's profile (BACKUP ALL PST FILES, DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS ETC)

Re-create the users profile (logon to the LOCAL machine) and login, outlook should work, as long as the registry has domain user access to the "HKey-local-machine\software\microsoft\office and permissions for the same on the C:\Winnt and C:\program files

Should be no problem, mine happily works now! :-D
