Two people in the office who use Outlook 2K as their email agent kept getting those annoying errors yesterday - Message had From: System Administrator and "Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients." Followed by "The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
'person@domain.com' on 8/19/2003 9:54 AM
No transport provider was available for delivery to this
recipient."
The Microsoft help site was anything but, listing about fifteen possible causes and not a lot of good information on how to solve. After checking most of these problems, did a quick google search on an error I was seeing in my message log "lost input channel". Found that Outlook was timing out. Raised the timeout to the maximum of five minutes and everything went. We use sendmail - so if the problem comes back, we'll know to fiddle with the sendmail.cf and change the timeouts until it goes smoothly.
Unfortunately, over half a day was wasted on this ubiquitous message that was NOT from our Mailer-Daemon.
Hope this helps someone else.
