Hello

I have two out of office rules setup - The first rule is from a specific address and has the "do not process subsequent rules" box checked.

The second rule is from all mail messages.

The check box "do not process subsequent rules". Is not working

After the first rule fires the second also does this is sending the message twice to the same person the "do not process subsequent rules" check box is being ignored.

As anybody come across this problem?

Many thanks for you help in advance

Michael -

What you need to do to prevent the same thing from being sent to this single person is create an exception in your "from all" message. I've not used 2003 much, so I'm giving instructions from XP and 2000, but I'm assuming they'll be fairly similar. Go into your rules wizard, and click on your 2nd rule - go to the section where you can set up exceptions (in 2000 its the third window) and click "except if sent to" and enter the email address of the person who is getting two emails.

This should solve your problem. Let me know if it doesn't work for you.

I stand corrected (by myself) - apparently in 2003 it is easier to do this one this way:

Go back into your out-of-office wizard. You want to change your "from all" message so that the from line reflects the email address of the person who is getting two messages. Then click the advanced options button. Somewhere in there you should find a check box labeled "Only items that do not match these conditions." You want to check that one. This will send the reply to everyone but that one person.

Sorry it took me two emails to cover this one. My apologies. :( LK

Hi

Sorry to seem a little slow with this but:

The "All Messages" rule need to be edited

Currently there is nothing in the "From" line (done so the second rule fires for all incoming messages.

I need to add the address of the person getting the duplicate message and NOT the address of the original message sender?

In Advaned check the box

Is that right?

I think you've got it straight. The reason you want to add the same address to both boxes is that when you check the "Only items that do not match these conditions" box, you tell the computer to send that reply to everyone BUT that person (which is I think what you want, right?)

Let me know if it doesn't work for you. :)
