Outlook 2003 & no mail to send despite Outlook saying so

Hi
i have the same problem only outlook says send message 1 of 3266 messages
nothing is going out the number also goes up from time to time the largest to date being 48291. a friend of mine also has the same problem
spoke to one of our teckies today and he had an idea my friend and i are both running Norton internet security was just wondering if you are running it to?
