I have an Exchange 5.5 SP3 server with 200 users and they're having an issue moving mail from their Inbox to folders. I'm having the same issue and I've tried some troubleshooting.

First I turned on Cache mode on my profile and this worked, moving mails no longer caused Outlook to crash.

Then I moved my mailbox to another server in the same Exchange org running the same version of Exchange and I was able to move emails with no issue in cache mode and directly connected to the mailbox.

I then moved my mailbox back to the original server and the problem returns unless I enable cache mode...which I don't want to do for all of my users.

Any ideas? There's nothing in the event log on the server to suggest theres a problem

Sorry got some of my facts wrong in the original post. Both Exchange 5.5 servers are SP4 and at the same patch level. An internet mail connector was installed on the one thats having the issues on Friday but thats all thats changed.

I tried a reboot last night but users still have the issue this morning.

PLEASE HELP!

Got this one sorted in the end. Tried reapplying SP4 and some hotfixes. Didn't work. Ran the performance optimiser on the Exchange server and it suggested moving the IMC's files off the e drive (RAID5) and onto the d drive (mirrored), restarted the IMC and its working now!
