outlook 2003 double click calendar, nothing happens

Hi, I have a user who is unable to add appointments into his Outlook calendar, when he double clicks the calendar or clicks New->Appointment nothing happens. He has a couple of shared calendars in his profile which he can add appointments to no problem.
