Outlook 2002 is set to perform periodic send/receives while on-line. During send/receives the entire app slows to a crawl, can't open messages, drop down menus or switch between windows. It's even worse while performing calendar actions. This occurs even with no other applications running. I connect to my ISP via a cable modem and then to my company's intranet through a VPN client. All Office and XP updates are installed. My machine has 512MB RAM and a 3COM 10/100 duplex NIC. For personal use I use Outlook Express and have no performance problems at all. Any ideas as to what could be causing the performance hit?
