I recently moved all of my emails and contacts from Outlook Express 6 to Outlook 2002. It seemed to come over fine. However, when I start a new email message and click on the "TO" button, I get an error message:

The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Outlook Help. OK

If I go into the contacts folder, I can right-click a name and select "New Message to Contact."

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

do you have an exchange server?

If not, make sure that your mail is configured for internet only NOT workgroup which may of been the default setting. It just so happens i fixed this problem for a client earlier in the week. I admit to not using Outlook 2002 but i guess the principle is the same. The following fixed the problem, may vary in 2002.

in outlook go tools - options - mail delivery - reconfigure mail support(button)- choose internet only and follow on screen wizard.

Good Luck
