Outlook 2002 cannot pop in email

I have this one PC (win2k) that will not Pop in email or send it out (smtp).
1.I tried ping the server, but no response.
I also pinged another 3rd party pop server and had no issues
2. I have tried the user email account on another pc running win 2k and outlook 2002 and it works fine.
3. Noone else on the network is having an issue with access the pop or smtp
4. The users pc can access the web with no problem
5. User can access email via outlook web client.

Any ideas?

You have a network problem of some kind. If you can't ping the server, check the TCP/IP settings on the PC. Go to a command prompt and type 'ipconfig /all' to get the IP configuration. Is the gateway IP address correct? Can you ping another server or PC on the network?

Also:

Could a corporate firewall be blocking requests by the PC?
Has the user downloaded/installed a firewall from the internet?
