Hi there,

I have a farm of 28 XPe servers. They run Windows 2000 Server SP4 with XPe 1.8 FR3 SP3.

We upgraded the browser to IE6 SP1 at the weekend but ever since when our users in Outlook try to click on links either nothing happens at all or I get an error saying it is unable to locate link browser.

I have check file associations and the DDE stuff but no luck.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Jay

This is still not fixed but I have it narrowed down to a permissions issue somewhere as it works for admins and power users.

If you suspect permissions then get a hold of filemon and regmon from Look for Access Denied or ACCDEN when finished.

Ascotta,

Spot on, found that Outlook was trying to create some keys in HKCU that for some reson it did not have permissions to do.

Have created a REG file to poke into their login script to create that key.

Cheers for the help

OK, the registry changes did not work.

This seems to relate specifically to IE6 SP1 as if I back out to IE5.5 it works fine. Upgrade again and it stopls, unless you have admin rights.

REGMON and FILEMON are really not showing anything other than the keys I saw last time which I poked into the HKCU using a KIX script.

Any other thoughts people?

Another is DCOMCNFG and make sure everyone has launch permissions.

I have had a similar problem. I just had to force IE to run the Default browser check for Administrator once per server and everthing else kicked in to life straight away.

Didn;t even need install mode.
