Hello All!
I am having problems with a Windows XP system running Outlook 2000. Whenever I try to do anything I get "Outlook Not Responding" And I have to force quit to get out.

I have done the following:
Run scanpst on the Inbox and Sent Mail Folders with no errors.
Removed Outlook totally and reinstalled it.

Outlook Express works with no problems whatsoever.
Outlook works fine when working offline.

Please let me know if you have any ideas. I appreciate your help!

Running an anti-virus program? That would be my first guess at a culprit. If so, briefly disable or uninstall it, and try again.

When you try to open Outlook 2000, does it hang at the splash screen? Is there hard disk activity while it's hung?

Outlook 2000 has a built-in scanning utility that works in conjunction with the SCANPST tool (not as a replacement). Even if there's nothing wrong with the PST, a log file is generated every time you shutdown Outlook. If there was an error the last time you shutdown Outlook, no matter how small, it will hang at the splash screen until the error is resolved.

I suggest letting it sit there for up to an hour (depending on the size of the PST/Inbox and speed of the PC). Chances are that it will eventually open and return to normal.

I have exactly the same problem using WinXP and Outlook 2002, as sson as I start Outlook it appears to start collecting mail but freezes within seconds, at its worst the whole machine goes very very slowly or even freezes for a few seconds.

After about 5 Minutes or so Outlook closes withing XP saying that it has encountered a problem. This is not a new installation the whole machine has ran very smoothly for a year or so

Does any one have any ideas??

CompletF1,
Since you are talking about Outlook 2002 and a different issue, I would start a new thread.
