Hi Guys,

This is the situation. I need to setup two e-mail accounts on the same Windows NT 4.0 computer. Here is the scenario:

username: bob
mailbox name: bob johnson
so I went into outlook and connected to mailbox "bob johnson" on the exchange server and that works fine as usual.

NOW, say bob wants another e-mail account..call it "manufacturing" on the exchange server..

do i have to create another NT account on this computer with username "manufacturing" for me to connect to another mailbox? that is what i have done now..

i want to know if there is a way to connect to both mailboxes on exchange using the same OUTLOOK, rather than switching NT accounts everytime..

sorry if i made this confusing..

I did some research and found notes on this. I setup another exchange server profile and configured outlook to ask me what profile to select when I open it. I also selected the same primary NT account for both mailboxes in exchange administrator. However, there is a problem.
When I select that new profile, I get an error message saying "unable to open your default e-mail folders. you do not have permission to log on". I went back and added all possible permissions to this user account, but same problem. ANY IDEAS?

I also tried the "open additional mailboxes" option under tools --> services. But, when I tried to open up that mailbox, it said "unable to expand folder"

First make sure that Bob has permissions to access the manufacturing mailbox becauase it doesn't sound like he does using his NT logon ID.

Second you can access two mailboxes from the same profile by going into TOOLS - SERVICES and select the Microsoft Exchange Server component. Click on PROPERTIES and then select the ADVANCED tab. On this tab you can add additional mailboxes so that the client can see both mailboxes through the Folder List view.

However they need to be aware that they are logged on to Outlook with only one mailbox as the primary mailbox. So if Bob responds to a mail in the Manufacturing mailbox it will show that it is from Bob instead of Manufacturing unless he uses the FROM field and enters the Manufacturing mailbox name.

In a nutshell Outlook is not intuitive enough to treat the separate mailboxes as separate mailboxes but rather it treats the second mailbox as another folder. Not a big deal but you just need to be aware of this. joegz

Yep, Thanks for that "from" tip joegz~

My issue begins with 'Tools' then 'Services', click once on Exchange server and select 'properties', go to 'Advanced' and 'Add' an additional mailbox. At this point I am unable to Add any data into the dotted box which appears when I click into the dialog box and when I try by using the Add button I receive the message, "Name could not be resolved. Action could not be completed."

This began when I migrated from Exchange 5.5 to 2000. I have Outlook 2000 and 2002 with current SPs.
