Using WIN2K clients with Outlook 2000 connecting to an EX2K server.

The problem I am having is that one user's emails in her inbox always show up as unread when outlook is opened even though the messages has been read (envelope close). If you click on the message it then changes to read (envelope open).

She doesn't use the preview pane and I have checked all the settings and they appear to be ok.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks...Andy.

Just to clarify are you saying that at one point the message dispalyed an opened envelope and then later changes back to a closed envelope? perhaps each time when outlook is closed and reopened?

joegz,

what is happening is that she may get say 5 emails in one day and she opens them and reads them but doesn't delete them. The next day she opens outlook and the same 5 messages appear in the inbox but all with evelopes closed i.e. shown as not read.

If she just clicks on the message without opening it, the evelope changes to open i.e. showing a read!

Does that makes sense to you?

Does the message also revert to being boldfaced or is it just the envelope? This would kind of make sense of the Internet Mail Transport component was being used. Any rules running? Any cutomizations to the form being used for these e-mails (assuming these are internal messages and not from external sources)?

Joegz,

left some messages in her inbox over the weekend to see what would happen today when I came back to work.

Outlook now seems to behaving normally! All the messages have remained as read with the envelope open.

I love it when these problems fix them selves. Thanks for your time anyway.
