I am trying to use the 'Out Of Office Assistant' in Outlook 2000 but am receiving the following error:

"Changes to the rule could not be saved. There is not enough memory or the rules are too complex. Try deleting some rules."

The rules are not complex - i have just created an alert to inform me of a new e-mail.

I have a brand new laptop with 1GB RAM and 80GB hard disk space. I can't understand why it is doing this.

Outlook is connected to Exchange but I have checked the server which is running fine and no one else is having the same trouble.

Can anyone help?

Regards,

Microsoft Allows rules to be of size of only 32 Kb.
See this article.

Rule files are stored in a .rwz extension. Search a .rwz file and the size of it. If it is more than 32 Kb you got to reduce it. You can delete some rules etc..

But If this is the first rule, try to make it short.
