Using Microsoft Outlook 2000, is it possible to set it up in such a way to allow ANY user to log into ANY PC and keep all their mail settings/folders/address book etc.

I know you can save the .pst file to a network drive which sounds ideal, but will Outlook check on the network or would you have to point it in the right direction EVERY time someone different logs into the PC

U have to point to the .pst file every time a new user logs in. The other way around is to use Outlook Web Access i.e. checking mails thru IE.

If your organization will go for it...MS Exchange will automatically open the correct mailbox for the user.

Thanks for the replies...

So it looks like unless you want to reconfigure the
Outlook settings everytime someone different logs in, the best thing to do is go for Exchange?

I may know only enough about this to be dangerous, but I believe that each user profile stores the name of the appropriate pst file, as well as each user's outlook options. I didn't see a mention of which OS you're using - I'm using Win2000Pro, but I assume XP will be similar. So you should only have to configure this once for each user. We use standalone Windows 2000 workstations with only local profiles - no Windows server - so in our case is has to be set up for each user on each machine. But once that user is set up on a machine, it *should* work fine. It works for me, and I plan on setting up other machines like this when I get a chance. Once it's set up for a user, it should work every time they log onto that machine without having to tell it where to get the pst file.
