Outlook 2000 - messages stuck in Outbox

This issue started yesterday afternoon. I would send messages from my Outlook as normal. They would go to my Outbox and get "stuck" there. The message would send (I got verbal confirmation, as well as people replying to my messages), but the sent message would just sit in the Outbox rather than cycle through to the Sent Items. I can not move these messages manually, either, though I can delete them. On my folders bar, my Outbox is bolded with a number in parenthesis next to it as though I have X number of unread messages, but when I open my Outbox, none of the messages are in bold or italics, like they are when they first arrived (they get un-bolded & un-italicized as they are sent).

I've tried running the ScanPst tool, and it found no errors. I've checked settings, but everything looks normal.

About the time this started happening, I located a Trojan.ByteVerify virus on my machine. I managed to get it cleaned off, but my Outlook is still messed up. I do not know if these two things are related or coincidental.

Thank you in advance for any advice/suggestions. I'm about ready to tear my hair out :)

Have you tried reinstalling Office (Uninstalling, and then installing again), in case that trojan messed up some file(s) and/or settings in Outlook - or even run the Office Repair?
