I have a computer running w2K Pro, fully updated, with office 2000 Pro, fully updated.

Sfter entering a phone number for a contact I get the error message "The Operation Failed"

I installed Customizable Alerts, but it does not address this error.

I tried Detect and Repair. No luck.

I will appreciate any suggestions

For lack of a better idea, try "SCANPST.EXE", aka Inbox Repair Tool, default location:

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\NT\SCANPST.EXE"

Good luck,

TomCologne:

Thank you for the suggestion. I have never heard of scanpst.exe.

Unfortunately it found nothing wrong with my pst file.

I found the problem to be that the "Telephony" service was disabled.

The telephony service is disabled on my pc running windows xp that has office 2003, and I don't get that error message when trying to send an email.. Are you sure it was that? I have a user on my network here that is having the same problem...

If you have any ideas, let me know.. The user is running Windows 2000 with a copy of Outlook 2000.

Thanks.

Hi got that message just today with a user here at my workplace. It turns out that she could not accept a calendar invitation because her mailbox on the Exchange Server was at it's limit. I cleared up some old stuff on her Outlook and it tested ok. Not usre if you are using it at work or if it is a home user.
