Enabling Outgoing and Incoming Call Barring will prevent a phone from receiving or placing a trunk call on an IP Office. The problem I am having is that the phone can still connect with a phone that isn't barred and either have an external call transferred or conferenced with the phone. Does anyone know of a way to prevent a phone from ever being a party to a trunk call?

Thanks

Thanks for the snark everyone.

I have found a solution. You add an additional IP Office with an H.323 trunk between the two. You make the new line a Private and the rest Public. Then you enable Restrict Network Interconnect under System>Telephony>Telephony. Then you put the restricted users on the new IPO. This, at least in my testing, will prevent the restricted phones from ever connecting to a trunk to the outside or even a trunk to the rest of any SCN network as long as the SCN lines are marked as Public.

If anyone has a better suggestion I would welcome it. This was a legitimate security need for my customer and I wouldn't be surprised if there are other organizations that have similar needs.

Good stuff for finding and also posting the solution to your problem.
We hand out pink for that.
As for the snarky remarks that is how we usually say, "hell we have no clue how to do that or don't want to think about it"
Thanks for not taking it too personal.

You really want to keep those phones off the grid [smile]

As long as the extra cost of chassis and licenses doesn't matter, this is very good thinking!

Well worth a star.

Gunnaro,
The solution doesn't really have to be that expensive if you are willing to live with older hardware. You can load R5 on a 406V2 and put a VCM card in it. SCN isn't licensed on the 406 so you only need to worry about having enough networking channels on the IP500. This gives you a couple of analog and 8 digital stations for about $300 from ebay.

Oh really? So it's still the same then. Good to know.
My view on selling stuff from Ebay is also still the same.

Kind regards

Gunnar
