I have XP and Outlook 2000 on a PC. I have a .mil email
address and server. This account works fine except when I send mail to an address that ends in .edu, including one of my .edu addresses that I know are ok.

What should I check to find the solution to this problem?

Are the .edu addresses all with the same domain name? If yes, has this .edu domain recently changed to a different internet service provider?

What is the text of the bounce notice?

I don't know if the domain has recently switched service providers. If they did, wouldn't that mess up all mail service?

The text of the bounce message is:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

530 5.7.1 Relaying not allowed: j-wojcio@sacredheart.edu

'Relaying not allowed' sounds like you're using the sacredheart.edu address as the sender (you), not the recipient. Newposter

5.7.1 also is an indicator that the recipient is setup to only receive from certain mailboxes or lists that the sender isn't part of.

This may be an SMTP authentication issue. You will need to contact your Internet Service Provider to find out where and why the Relaying is not allowed.

Your exchange server is relaying mail.... looks like you are on a blacklist somewhere. Remove mail relaying

where did the ndr come from? their server or yours?
