Is there a way, from within Exchange 2000 / 2003, for a particular mailbox account to set an "Out of Office" message? I have an account where the user is no longer with us, but want to send out notification to anyone that sends this account a message to "re-send" their message to a different email address in the future, etc. (and possibily at the same time forward any incoming messages to the new user).

You can forward the messages from that account to any other account in your ADUC Exchange General tab. To set up an auto-reply just logon to that account after setting up full access to your account to it, and set the Out of Office...or just login to that mailboxes OWA and do it from there.

Well, Out of Office isn't something I push, for security reasons. But if you're going to use it, you might want to make sure it's enabled to the Internet and not just internally.

Again, I don't recommend it. It validates email adresses and increases spam.

Unfortunately in some (i.e. many) business environments, contact with the customer is more important. Thus, IT has to alleviate the spam issue via hardware/software while allowing the business side to function properly, i.e. customer service.

After all, if we fail the business customer, then we're out of a job in the end anyway.
