Our server hung up last night. I tried using last good configuration but it would not boot up. I attempted to boot up of the CD and use the ERD disk to restore the boot files, however, the system never gets pass "Setup is starting Windows 2000". So I'm unable to repair the OS. I'm the temp Administrator with limited experience with W2K, could someone help me out.

It may be a hardware issue here, remove the ram and replace with known good ram. Try it then.

Let me know how you get on

I don't think it's the RAM because I can boot up in safe-mode. I do think it's a hardware problem, maybe the SCSI controller, but I really don't know how to troubleshoot this. Any suggestions?

I agree about the Ram issue now......Any conflicts in Device Manager??

IF you can go into safe mmode, the look under Event Viewer if there is any log with information to help you.. A+, MCP, CCNA
