OK one more product. We use the OTM product with out Option 81 & Option 61. I am new to the product so I am not sure exactly the process. We do not do any of our MAC from the OTM we do them all from the console. I have heard from both NT & 3rd party vendors and others that OTM is not what it is cracked up to be. We use it for our CDR reporting, but cant seem to count on its reliability. Remember I am an AVAYA person. Please write back if you use OTM and how it works for you. I hear of corrupted databases, I hear it doesnt sync up. In a world where it is set up correctly is the product worthy? Please let me know. Thanks, Mary

TM 3.1 when set up correctly is a good product. I installed it on one of my customer's system in Mobile last week. The IT guy that is using it also has a good working knowledge of the cli on the maint terminal. TM 3.1 is for users that have a "working" knowledge of the Nortel database. Global Knowledge teaches a 3 day class on station admin, also a 3 day class on call accounting.
I set up a sync schedule in the TM 3.1 to keep it and the pbx in synch.
The call accounting is pretty good to, but alot of my customers just have their ld provider prompt for a auth code and bill the customer with a list of calls with there respective code.
With 3900 series sets the TM 3.1 keeps the calling party name database updated and provides that info back to the pbx to be displayed on the applications key as Corporate Directory for quick access by phone users. Folks really like this feature!
It is a real pain to set up. That is why I think one hears negative comments about it.

Hello mhodges,
I inherited a site with OTM 2.2, I must admit there some benefits to it. First alot of people new to PBX's find it easeirs to do MACS. I have heard alot of the complaints as well and must admit there are issues that will inevitable require use to use CLI. But day to day I still find myself using it. We do use it for CDR reporting as well and love it for that. I am not sure about the initial setup as it was already installed but I did have to migrate it to another pc and it went rather easy, granted I was copying the setup from the old one.

For every one customer that likes OTM/TM you are going to find many more that think it's a waste of time and money. You can do everything OTM/TM does with Procomm and other software which is most likely already on your PC including CDR reports.

If the person using OTM doesn't have to fix anything and only does MAC's, then it is OK for that, but don't call that person a Tech. You can't fix anything if it doesn't work with OTM/TM.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

if your phones only need to work part of the time, and your boss is fine with you booting the switch a couple of times a day..
