trying to convince the college of the upgrade, can anyone help with some bullet points?

monitor and administer ITG trunk traffic (should they decide to go in that direction)

what can it do with ITG line and IP sets?

anything else?

any help would be appreciated,

-bb.

VOIP, ALSO OLD SOFTWARE NOT SUPPORTED BY ETAS

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

in what ways will OTM 2.2 be advantageous to VOIP?
please provide details.
thanks,
-bb.

Will have latest software compatability. If switch is upgraded past 25.40 1.2 will not operate correctly. 1.2 no longer supported by Nortel. Not sure about VOIP.

assuming you already have OTM1.2 and are familiar with it
please go to the nortel website, they have documentation on OTM2.2
is the switch being upgraded, is the server being upgraded ... then upgrade the otm along with it - for example win2003 is not supported on OTM1.2

If the customer doesnt need any feature enhancements, and u r upselling, other than what perrypj said there is nothing else

The quirks in OTM 2.2 are pretty much gone... unlike 1.2. OTM 2.2 will not run on W2003. I install OTM systems weekly - tested the OTM 2.2 in the W2003 environment. That was a waste of time. I got the software installed, but can't do anything. Nothing works! Run a W2000 Server as your first machine if you need any OTM fat clients otherwise go with XP Pro as a standalone. The Web functionality in OTM 2.2 is much better and Station Admin has been improved. Well worth the cost. Senk1s is right - if your upgrading the switch you will need to upgrade OTM -usually. Check OTM 1.2 compatibility with PBX releases.
Good luck!

You will need OTM 2.2 if you ever go with Nortel VOIP to build nodes. Lots of Hospitals and colleges are going in that direction. But you'll need the backbone to support it.

good luck

You should look at other applications other than OTM. can handle both the legacy switches and new VoIP seemlessly. Go for a free ASP trial. Won't interfere with OTM 1.2. If you are satisfied you can either buy as CPE or let them host it.
