OSX OS9 Appletalk problem

Hopefulyl someone'll tell me I'm stupid and come up with an easy answer!
I have little experience of OSX. Trying to link an 9.04 machine to a 10 (patched to .4) machine. Appletalk works brilliantly connecting from X to 9, but the old machine can see the OSX machine under chooser, but will not connnect to it.

Any ideas?

Upgrade the 9 to 9.2.2 and it should work fine. If not, try clicking the server ip address button and going via IP directly.
