I've got a NAM 4.0, V3G that doesn't recognize my Microsolutions Backpack CD-ROM unit. I'm needing to upgrade the NAM software to 4.1.

Anyone have experience loading the 32x drivers for the backpack (model 167550)?

I loaded the bpcdos2.add driver yet the NAM still doesn't seem to see the Backpack. Microsolutions documentation discusses editing the config.sys and other files in OS/2. Does OS/2 use the exact same commands as DOS for editing or do I need something different? Any extra info would be appreciated.

I got the same problem as above. Did see any answer to this post. Will someone please help us in making the cd-rom drive work with the NAM.

You need a different backpack - even though the 32x is stated as compatible, you cannot load the drivers. I have a Model 181100 - Backpack Bantam - which is older but is the slim backpack and works well.
I haven't been able to get the larger 32X backpack to work.

Finally got it working. Turns out the bpcdos2.add driver worked after all. The problem was that I was trying to use a 4.1 software disk that my distributor sent me that had the wrong stuff on it(!) A subsequent disk was properly read by my NAM and at least the Backpack is working fine.

gecko202002 may be right regarding certain NAM's but this particular NAM accepted the driver.

djjack, I now have the original files that came with the backpack if you need them, which includes the previously mentioned driver. I can be reached at Let me know if you need me to send them to you.
