Oracle ODBC times out but can connect with SQLPLUS

I have the Oracle 9.2 client on my Windows NT machine and am connecting fine to a database on a server using SQLPLUS.

I also installed the latest Oracle ODBC RDB driver but when run the "Test connection", it gives me a timeout error after a few minutes.

Any ideas what is preventing the ODBC driver from finding the database?

The Oracle database I am connecting to is also 9.2.

I used the earliest version of the Oracle 9.2 ODBC driver from Oracle and that worked.
