"As far as I know, UTL_FILE does not work with mapped drives on NT while running under SYSTEM account, for this NT account normally has no access to those drives. You may refine the Oracle service settings (Log On As). You may also use \\machine\share\path notation."
If I change the NT user specified for the OracleServiceSID to a non-SYSTEM, local-machine admininstrator user, with "log on as service" priviledge - the service starts, the database opens, but I get an ORA-12500 when trying to connect a client. (This is version 8.1.7.4 under NT 4.0 SP6a)
What priviledges does a non-SYSTEM user require to run the Oracle service (and Listener?)?
TIA DaPi - no silver bullet
