Oracle Migration Workbench installation

Hi,

I have Oracle 8i Personal Edition installed. When I download and run Oracle Migration Workbench v9.2.0.1.2 from Oracle website ( which is the only option available), the installation fails after I specify the type of installation with the message:

Unable to install the Oracle Migration Workbench into the specified directory. Please specify a new directory in the Destination... section of the File Locations page at the beginning of the install. Please refer to the Release Notes on OTN for further information.

I only have one Oracle home setup - I have enough disk space and permissions to write to the disk. I fear that this is something to do with the installation not supporting 8i Personal Edition. If I am wrong. please provide solution or link to where I can download a compatible version. I do not really want to go down the CSV file transfer route for my migration from Access 2k to Oracle.

Yes,

Release notes are quite bare at best. No mention of this or compatibility. When trying to look at what I have installed on the server, the Installer fails to recognise that I have RDBMS installed.

I guess it is just one of those things!

Hi,
The message says it all, you cannot use the same directory
for your 9.2 stuff ( like the workbench) and your 8.1 stuff..Specify a new home directory and install it there.
( You may need to copy your tnsnames.ora file ( and maybe the sqlnet.ora one as well) to the network/admin directory under that new home)
