Oracle Inactive Sessions

We've recently ported our application to Oracle 8i (8.1.7) Enterprise. We have everything working well except we seem to constantly accumulate inactive Oracle sessions until we reach our max sessions limit (200). We've enabled the Oracle session management, but ColdFusion does not seem to be releasing some Oracle sessions. It usually takes a week or so before we start getting close to our limit. We then have to restart the services to reset our session pool.

We have "Maintain database connections" enabled in ColdFusion administrator. We're using OLEDB as our data source type. All of our application data requests funnel through one Data Source.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Hopefully there is a cure out there!

Try searching the macromedia site particularly the forums and knowledge base this may be a known issue. Sorry I couldnt be of more help

Just got this email in response to someone posting a different bug but it mentions an "Oracle connection lock" bug this may be the same problem!:

All that I got from Allaire was that it was not a problem and that no one else was reporting the problem, therefore it was not a problem. Same scenario when dealing with the Oracle connection lock issue (which has also finally been acknowledged as a problem.)
