Oracle Does not respond after a specified period.

hi once again,
I have got a very specific proble.
I am running oracle 8.1.7 running on SCO UNIXWARE 7.1
Non Stop Clustering environment.Now the problem is after a specific period say 7 days it stops responding and it gives an error "ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error " I have tried with tracing ON but unable to resolve the problem.This error comes even when i try to connect svrmgrl.Please tellme the solution of this problem.
