Hi,

I am getting an "E8601 - failed to connect to agent" error message, and I was never given the username/password for the agent. Is there a default username/password, or a way to change this without knowing the original info?

Thanks

There is no password for the 'agent'. The credentials you supply are for Oracle. If you don't have access to these, then chances are you shouldn't be accessing it. If you are on the other hand authorised to access Oracle then I would suggest contacting Oracle for assistance. Most Software companies requesting that you bypass their security in this sort of way will require signed approval from the CEO of the company before they will even look at this.

You can check the security that is used to login Oracle server by starting the oracle agent configuration on the Oracle Server (check start-programs-computer associates-brightstor-arcserve backup agents). There is a configuration for each SID which is always added manually.
Also check if the 'Backup Agent RPC server' service is running on the machine Oracle Server is installed.

regards
