Hello,

I had Oracle 9i Database Enterprise Edition running on my win2000 machine. The Ora92 directory is located in D:\. Due to a bad Oracle9iAS installation I think I might have damaged the registry and was unable to reboot system. The server is being reimaged right now on C:\ with a new win2000 OS. Once the re-imaging is finished. How do I quickly restore my previous 9i database? Please advise... Unfortunately, I did not perform a backup of the database.

Regards,
Vinceq

Hi,
The database itself should be fine if it was on the D: drive and you are just reimaging the C: drive, BUT
the registry is now devoid of any Oracle information.

After you get it back, copy the entire D:\Ora92 directory structure to another location for safekeeping and then
try to reinstall from the cd - it may give you a chance to repair/update the previous installation - but, since Oracle stores its inventory instances on the C: drive the installer will probably not know you have any oracle installed, so just go ahead and install it again in the original Home directory ( d:\Ora82 ) - Once this is done and before using it, recopy the saved structure back to its original home..Overwrite all if prompted.
Reboot and it should ( emphasis on should) be OK..

No Guarantees, but I do not see any other option without a backup..
