Oracle 9i installation on XP

Hi,

I am trying to install oracle 9i (9.2.01) on XP Pro. However, I am stuck in the DBCA setup. DBCA always hangs at 'Step 1 of 8' and when this happens, 2 processes (jre.exe and services.exe) always hit high CPU usage. The system appears frozen. I had to use task mgr to kill the jre.exe before everything resumes normal. But then DBCA also dies.

Anyone having the same problem and had a solution?

DBCA is Java application and jre is Java Runtime Environment. Killing jre is the same as shutting down Windows and complainig about why Word has also been closed What is your hardware?

The hardware is a Compaq Notebook, Evo N800V, Pentium 4, with 786M Ram,runnin XP Pro, SP1. Understand that DBCA is using Java runtime. But i just cannot figure out the problem and this stupid JRE is freezing the entire system.
