Hi,

I am trying to install oracle 9i (9.2.01) on XP Pro. However, I am stuck in the DBCA setup. DBCA always hangs at 'Step 1 of 8' and when this happens, 2 processes (jre.exe and services.exe) always hit high CPU usage. The system appears frozen. I had to use task mgr to kill the jre.exe before everything resumes normal. But then DBCA also dies.

Anyone having the same problem and had a solution?

DBCA is Java application and jre is Java Runtime Environment. Killing jre is the same as shutting down Windows and complainig about why Word has also been closed :) What is your hardware?

Regards, Dima

Dima,

The hardware is a Compaq Notebook, Evo N800V, Pentium 4, with 786M Ram,runnin XP Pro, SP1. Understand that DBCA is using Java runtime. But i just cannot figure out the problem and this stupid JRE is freezing the entire system.
