Hi,

is it possible to install oracle standard edition and oracle enterpise edition on the same hp-ux server?

Joe

Yes as long as you have enough RAM to create two instances and installation sub-directories are different. That is user oracle own everything but binaries are installed on different sub-directories.

Hi,

i have plenty of ram, but keep getting an error message popping up saying
'there was an error during loading library:areaQueries'

When i click ok out of that i get the same message only that the library name is different.

any ideas?

have you checked that you have installed correct O/S patches on hp-ux. Although I am a Solaris guy, there should not be any reason why you cannot install Oracle. Where are you getting this error and in what process. Seems like problem with path level or an environment variable not set correctly

Hi Folks,

i get the error when i run the runInstaller exe from the cdrom
This starts the oracle universal installer.
I eneter the path of the file containing the products i want to install
I enter the oracle_home dir
I then select the product i want to install)oracle 8.1.7.0.0
Then i select the typical installion
Th error appears at this stage.

Check for a file oraInst.loc in /var/opt/oracle. It is created when you install Oracle, and holds inventory info for the installation.
If it is there, rename it. The new install will create it's own.

thanks bob.

i'll try that.
can i take it that this will not overwrite the standard edition of oracle i have already installed?

Joe

No, It's just a list of product info. You can rename it (eg OraInst.816 etc), in case you need to patch the previous system (OUI uses it to check products installed when you add new products/patches).
When you need to use OUI on the old version, copy back the renamed version of the file.
